How does panel removal and reinstallation work?

We safely de-energize and remove your array, store the panels on-site, and coordinate directly with your roofing contractor. Once the roof is complete, we return and reinstall every panel with all flashing, brackets, rails, and wiring done to code. Contact us as early as possible in your roofing timeline. These jobs are scheduled well in advance, and short-notice requests are difficult to accommodate.

Can you add panels or upgrade my existing system?

Yes. When energy needs grow from new appliances, an electric vehicle, or a larger household, we expand your existing system by installing additional panels and upgrading inverters or meters to match. We handle permitting and utility interconnection from start to finish.

What if my production dropped or my monitoring stopped working?

Our technicians diagnose and resolve the issue. We work on inverters, microinverters, panels, and wiring across most residential equipment brands. If your monitoring app is not connecting or shows inaccurate data, we identify and fix communication issues between panels, inverters, and the monitoring portal.

Do you service solar systems you didn't install?

Yes. National Solar repairs, troubleshoots, monitors, and removes/reinstalls solar systems across Oregon, even orphaned or abandoned arrays installed by a company that's no longer around. Bring us your system and our local technicians will get it producing again.

What does solar panel removal and reinstallation involve?

If you're repairing or replacing your roof, we safely de-energize, remove, and store your panels at your home, coordinate directly with your roofing contractor, then return to reinstall everything once the roof is ready. We make sure all flashing, brackets, rails, and wiring are reinstalled safely and correctly, to code.

How far in advance should I schedule a removal and reinstall?

As early as possible. Removal and reinstall services are scheduled well in advance, and because of the technical nature of the work we can't accommodate last-minute requests. Early scheduling keeps your roofing project on track and ensures your solar system is handled safely from start to finish.

Can you add more panels or a battery to my existing system?

Absolutely. As your energy needs grow, whether from a new EV, appliances, or a growing family, we install additional panels and upgrade inverters or meters. We also retrofit Enphase battery storage onto most existing solar systems for backup power and greater energy independence.

My solar production dropped or my monitoring app isn't working. Can you help?

Yes. If your system shows reduced production or error messages, our technicians diagnose and resolve panel, inverter, and wiring issues so it runs at peak performance. We also fix monitoring and connectivity problems between your panels, inverters, and app so your performance data is accurate again.

Are there any solar systems you don't service?

Yes. We're currently unable to service Tesla solar systems (including Tesla Solar Roof and Powerwall) or off-grid solar systems. We service grid-tied residential solar from virtually every other manufacturer, including systems originally installed by another company.

What information do you need to quote a service request?

For most service requests we need your name, address, phone number, and what's going on with the system. For removal and reinstall, it also helps to know the number of panels, whether your home is single or two story, who originally installed it, whether your roofing contract is signed and your timeline, whether the system is owned/financed or leased, and the panel brand if you know it (for example REC). Note that we don't service Tesla or off-grid systems.

Systems we do not service

Who services your system determines whether your manufacturer warranties survive the work. National Solar holds REC Certified Solar Professional and Enphase-certified installer status, so the coverage you paid for stays intact.

REC Certified Solar Professional (RCSP)

REC panels carry one of the strongest warranties in residential solar, but the top tier, REC ProTrust, is available only through REC Certified Solar Professionals. It extends product coverage to 25 years and adds labor coverage that the standard warranty excludes entirely.

What can void coverage

REC's warranty does not cover damage caused by repair, modification, or removal performed by someone other than a qualified service technician. Coverage also requires the system to remain on the structure where it was originally installed, so a properly permitted removal and reinstall is essential.
